Strategic objectives
The Business Development Unit (BDU) at the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) has adopted a forward-thinking approach to partnerships—one that goes beyond traditional training, research, and consulting. The Unit is committed to creating public value and contributing to Egypt’s Vision 2030 by enhancing the capacities of public institutions, expanding circles of expertise, and leveraging collaboration with leading academic, private sector, and civil society organizations at the national and international levels.
To achieve its strategic objectives, the BDU designs and delivers tailored training programs for public officials in key areas such as governance, innovation, digital transformation, and sustainability. To date, the Unit has successfully trained over 3,000 public officials, equipping them with the knowledge and tools needed to drive forward national reform and sustainable development efforts. It also plays a central role in building and managing partnerships that co-create impactful initiatives aligned with Egypt’s development priorities.
Among its flagship efforts is the Green Minds Initiative, which promotes sustainability and climate education in public schools. Launched across four governorates—Cairo, Alexandria, Fayoum, and Ismailia—the initiative engages students at the primary, preparatory, and secondary levels through practical and theoretical awareness-raising activities. So far, it has reached and positively impacted over 10,000 students, teachers, and families, fostering a strong culture of environmental responsibility and climate awareness among young generations.
