NIGSD Leads High-Level Roundtable on AI Governance to Promote Responsible and Sustainable Technology Practices

The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, through Egypt’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center, held a high-level roundtable entitled “AI Governance: Policies and Practices for a Responsible and Sustainable Future.” The event formed part of the second round of the fourth Egypt Policy Forum, building on earlier discussions launched during the first round within the framework of Cairo University’s first Artificial Intelligence Conference, CU-AI Nexus.
The roundtable extended an in-depth policy dialogue addressing the rapid global developments in artificial intelligence and their growing impact on economies and societies. Discussions explored practical dimensions of AI governance, focusing on challenges related to regulatory frameworks, capacity building, data governance mechanisms, and the implications of AI on labor markets and economic growth.
Participants also examined pathways to ensure the responsible deployment of AI technologies, striking a balance between innovation, opportunity, and risk management, while underscoring the importance of institutional collaboration and adaptive policy design capable of keeping pace with technological advancement. The session concluded with a set of recommendations aimed at developing an integrated AI governance framework that promotes innovation, ensures responsible use, and prepares systems to respond to ongoing global transformations.
